Believe in Yourself

The one thing that I have learned time and time again is that you have to believe in yourself and trust the process.  No one is every going to believe in you as much as yourself.  If you don’t truly support yourself, you will not succeed.

There has been plenty of times where I started this wasn’t working and doubting the journey.  No lie, yesterday was one of those days, and then I put on my “skinny jeans” from two years and had a dance party in my room.  Anyway, back to the topic at hand.  When you start doubting the process, THAT is when you start making excuses and not believing anything will change.  The demons in your head start getting louder and trying to make you think you will not succeed.  This will happen A LOT (daily, possibly) along the way but you have to kill drown out those rotten voices and push through.

Sometimes those nasty voices can actually be attached to a real human being.  You have to remember that they are either jealous or don’t truly support you in your process to get healthy and fit.  I will NOT lie, it will be soul crushing to hear (especially from someone you love), but you have to be better than those hideous voices, your own and others.  You can get through the difficult part and come out better in the end.  You have to know that you are worth more than what those voices are trying to lead you to believe.

I have heard it all; in my head and from “loved ones.”

  • “You’re fine the way you are.”
  • “I can’t see a change.”
  • “I don’t know why you bother.”
  • “You go to the gym too much.”
  • “You can miss a day.”
  • “It won’t kill you.”
  • “There is always tomorrow.”

The list goes on for MILES, no seriously, I could spend a week on every doubt that I have thought or heard.  You have to realize that the haters, including yourself, is wrong.  That you are better than anything you have ever thought.  You need to not listen to the negative comments and thoughts but that you MUST completely focus on you throughout this journey.  You might lose people along the way, but that is another post for another day.  Believe in yourself.  I believe in you and always will.  You got this!  Go kick ass!

  1. Great advice. As you said we’ve got to drown out the voices because no matter how long someone is doing fitness there are always the days you want to give up.
