Failure and A Review

Hey y’all! I am so sorry, I have failed you and myself. I have to post four sepearate posts today to make up for missing the last 4 days. I was doing so well; planning and taking pictures and being ready. Then Tuesday rolled around and I had to work my second job and it has been downhill from there. But this is not an excuse but an admittance to my mess up.

So without any further ado we are going to get into the first post of the day, the Sephora Play subscription box.

This month’s theme is “The Cool Cut” and the bag said “Lipstick and Chill.”  For those who have never heard about the Sephora Play subscription, it is much like the ipsy bag that they send you 5-6 samples for $10 a month. It is really hard to get on the list and you usually have to wait a couple months for the “invite” and if you don’t sign up immediately your spot gets given away. So once you get the e-mail, click that link and jump on it.

This month we were sent. . .

Erborian Bamboo Creme Frappe Skin Reviving Fresh Gel

According to Sephora,

What it is:
A moisturizer with a whipped, frosty gel-cream texture that absorbs quickly and has a refreshing effect.

What it is formulated to do:
This energizing gel-cream moisturizer helps skin feel refreshed and invigorated. The lightweight, whipped frosty texture absorbs quickly, helping skin appear smoother and softer. Erborian’s unique Bamboo Waterlock complex combines bamboo sap and fibers to help hydrate skin and lock in moisture.

It retails for $43 for 3.5 ounces.

I am not too excited to try this. It smells a little off to me but it does feel super hydrating on my hand.

Farmacy Skin Dew Mist

According to Sephora,

What it is:
A hydrating essence mist that tones the skin, restores radiance, and freshens makeup.

What it is formulated to do:
This invigorating essence helps replenish radiance and moisture while protecting and soothing the skin. It provides an overall sense of wellbeing and freshens makeup on contact. The vitalizing and energizing mist contains glycerin, which acts as a natural humectant, helping attract moisture to the skin and providing hydrating effects for a moist, supple skin surface. A blend of essential oils, including Rosemary, Bergamot and Peppermint, provides a fresh and energizing aroma.

Echinacea GreenEnvy™ is a unique, patent-protected variant of echinacea purpurea that contains the highest known concentration of cichoric acid, which helps protect the skin by inhibiting the enzymes that break down collagen. Cichoric acid also normalizes the skin pigmentation process to promote a more evenly toned complexion. Horsetail juice—a natural extract of the perennial horsetail herb that contains vitamin C, tannins, and mineral salts—helps freshen and tone the skin while providing both antioxidant and skin soothing benefits.

It retails for $44 for 3.3 ounces.

This stuff was a little sticky and smelled a little off as well. I sprayed it on my face and got blasted in my eye. It was horrible.

The Estee Edit Flash Photo Gloss

According to Sephora,

What it is:
A high-tech, high-shine gloss with cool blue micro-pearls to help bring out the white in your smile.

What it does:
Be selfie-ready with Flash Photo Gloss. An innovative gloss designed to enhance your perfect lip look, it’s infused with cool blue pearls to bring out the bright in your smile so you can stand out in photos—and in person. It’s fragranced with an addictive vanilla scent, and you can wear it alone or pop on top of your favorite lipstick for a high-shine finish that’s eye-catching in any light.

It retails for $20 for .27 ounces

It was super shiny but it was an iridescent shine and I don’t particular care for those types of glosses. It wasn’t sticky. So, I am going to have to give this one a fair try.

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil

According to Sephora,

What it is:
A deeply regenerating, creamy formula that restructures, strengthens, and protects all hair types, including damaged.

What it is formulated to do:
This regenerative care treatment’s creamy formula penetrates completely into the hair for a profound and long-lasting effect, from roots to tips. It is enriched with pure prickly pear seed oil—a precious natural remedy with antioxidant and regenerative virtues. Its action is reinforced with a 100 percent natural repairing agent that restructures and strengthens hair from the inside, smoothing and enhancing its shine. These active ingredients are combined with inula flower extract to reinvigorate and protect the pigments of natural or dyed hair. The scalp is stimulated, roots are regenerated, and hair is protected from breakage and split ends for a smooth, soft, radiant finish.

It retails for $71 for 8.33 ounces. WTF?!

This stuff STINKS. It smells like old, rotten cold creams that have been sitting on the shelf for WAY too long. I do not want to attempt to use this stuff. Nope.

Smashbox Always on Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat

According to Sephora,

It retails for $24 for .13 ounces.

This stuff is amazing! I have two other colors from this line and LOVE it. It is not drying and lasts all day.

Finally. . .

Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris

According to Sephora,

Yves Saint Laurent introduces a new sparkling fragrance inspired by Paris, the city of intense love. Red berries and pear immediately exude sensuality and femininity. The exotic white datura flower, the soul of the fragrance, embodies desire and seduces the senses. Finally, this modern and daring floral scent is balanced by creamy white musks and patchouli. The experience is a passionate and unforgettable whirlwind journey to Paris.

Strawberry, Raspberry, Bergamot, Calone, Pear, Orange Flower, Jasmin Sambac, White Peony, Datura, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambrox, Cedarwood, Crystal Moss.
Passionate. Sensual. Sophisticated.

The smallest size retails for $72 for 1 ounce and the biggest size $122 for 3.04 ounces.

I smelled this stuff and fell in love with it. For the last couple months Sephora has been knocking it out of the park when it comes to the fragrances. I think out of the last four months, I have only not like one of them.

This month was not wow worthy. I think I really like 2 out of the 6 items that they sent me but I am going to keep plugging along with the subscription. I am hopefully going to give it about a year. The service is really great at giving you brands that you may not have normally heard about or have tried before.

Have a great Friday y’all. One post down, three to go. I will catch up, I promise.

– ♥ Lindsey
