Not Worth The Hype

Happy Monday everyone! I don’t know how happy y’alls is but I am ecstatic!! Christmas break is 11 days away and 9 days away for me. This year my mom decided that she didn’t want to cook or be at home so we are going to Tennessee for a few days. I am just hoping there is snow on the ground when we get there and with the way the weather has been lately, it might actually happen. ::finger crossed::

This past weekend we were BLESSED with 50s and 60s for the temperature. As most of you guys know, I live in South Florida where we have two seasons; dry and wet. And it is ALWAYS hot. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t wear shorts and a tank top for Christmas dinner. I know some of you are jealous but I would like to at least have to put on a long sleeved shirt every once in a while for it. Lol

Moving on to today’s post. . .I recently purchased a BUNCH of dry shampoos from Sephora. I am trying to find the perfect one. Because Casey Holmes is ALWAYS talking about the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Dry Shampoo, I figured I would give it a go.

I didn’t even use it before I returned it. . .

First off, my packaging was JACKED up. The label wasn’t even placed properly. It was like someone just threw it on there and said “oh well.” There is literally no place on the bottle that is actually touching the bottle.

I bought a sample size because this stuff is EXPENSIVE. The sample size is $14 for 1.3 oz! $14?! Drug store dry shampoos are HALF of that and TRIPLE the size. AND the full size is $28 but you get 4.4 ounces. How is that even possible?! There is no way that to make one this size costs HALF of what it costs to make the big one that is more than TRIPLE the size.

Why did I buy it if I am complaining about the price? Because I am always willing to find the best stuff out there. I usually try to go 3 – 4 days in between washing my hair so, if I find something that is going to look like my hair was freshly washed when its just dry shampoo, I’m down.

The entire box REEKED of this stuff. I can’t event describe it. It smells like old lady. Sephora’s website says,

Fragrance Family:
Warm & Spicy

Scent Type:
Woody Spices

Key Notes:
Sandalwood, Violet

Your hair definitely won’t smell dirty but you would definitely get a headache from the smell. At least I would. Most dry shampoos have a subtle hint of fragrance, not this stuff it smacks you in the face with a 2 X 4. Currently, it is sitting about 2 feet away from me and I can still smell it.

Because the box reeks, I have a sneaky suspicion that the bottle leaked somehow because my bottle feels REALLY light. And the bottle is all sticky.

Look how TINY this bottle is?!

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I really wanted to believe all the hype that surrounds this stuff but I can’t.

I did buy about 7 other dry shampoos to test out, so get ready for the reviews. What do you guys do to keep your hair ok between washes? Have a wonderful Monday!
